You should be using both for combi with radiators, different setup for underfloor heating.

Set TRV's half way, room stat at about 19 / 20 degrees and the timer for about 3+ hours in the morning and 5+ at night depending on weather seasons.

During periods of prolonged cold spells I have run the heating 24/7 with room stat set at 20 degrees. This gives best economy with adequate heating.

We run a number of houses and use this setup to achieve best heating at acceptable costs.

Sounds Like my set up, timer on the boiler and thermostat in the lounge that overrides the timer set at 20c heating comes on 30mins before I get up and switchs off 30mins before I go out, and comes on 30 mins before I plan to get home and goes off at my usual bed time, I also have thermostatic valves in all rooms except the lounge all set at 3 so no individual rooms get hot, all my rads are acova (old school tube type) and wow to they throw out some heat, bill for a 3 bed 1960s semi is about £750pa with British Gas

I'd say our gas bill is about the same. Would love to get it down to what some of the others on here achieve though.....

My house is a late 60's early 70's 3 bedroom jobbie, gas combi boiler doing the central heating, hot water and hob. My annual dual fuel bill comes in at just over £500.
Educating my boys to turn off lights when they're not needed helps as does my thermostat at it's lowest setting and if they get cold it's their fault as they've got plenty of jumpers in the cupboard Rolling Eyes

I didnt t think £750 was bad I has come down since the kids left home from about £900 obviously with a combi my water is off the gas as is my cooker, and I cant say I ever feel cold.

However you have all got me thinking and I might try dropping the thermostat to 18 and the rad valves to 2 and see how it goes.

Along simular lines I had a chat with some mates at work about food bills I recon I spend about £120 per week on food and household shopping (£6kpa!!!) and there is only me the mrs and a collie in the house, some of my mates were quoting loads lower figures, I shop at ASDA and check my bill on line and against the other main stores I nearly always get told they were cheeper, if I was economising this is my most likely area to cut down as it makes the gas look cheap. DEFENDER 90 TDCI XS,

I hope everyone is well and your land rovers make you happy

When it comes to the food shopping I'm a real skinflint, I've got 2 teenage boys who eat more than I do but they don't go hungry. A lot of the "saver" flashed products are as good and probably with less preservatives than the named brands and Aldi and Lidl give value for money.
