Turbo oil feed pipe replacement
Hi,

I am fitting a new turbo, and to keep the warranty intact I need to fit a new oil feel pipe which I have already bought.

Before I start taking bits apart, does anyone know where the other end goes. From a quick inspection it looks like a load of stuff on the front of the engine has to come off.

Has anyone changed one?

It will pick up towards the lower end of the block, under the turbo,
Just follow the pipe downwards from the turbo. 80" 80" 86" 88" 90"

Yes that’s the problem. Is dissapears out of view. Even with the turbo off you can’t see where it goes

I seem to recall that the feed pipe connection to tbe block is obstructed by the huge bracket that holds the alternator and (if fitted) air con compressor. I did strip one off my spare engine a few months ago and I seem to recall that that daft bracket had to come off first.

I'm sorry, I read the post wrong Embarassed

The FEED pipe is a tricky one,
Once the turbo is removed you will be able to see where it goes.

If I can get another decent photo at work tomorrow I will post it for you,
Although it won't show you much more than you can see yourself,
Other than it being high up on a lift. 80" 80" 86" 88" 90"

Here you go!

This is on a Transit, but the same set up,
Although it's trickier to gain acsess on the Defender!

Just above the PAS pump, you will see the pipe and banjo fitting.

So the pipe runs right across the front of the engine to the nearside?

I can honestly say that I had completely forgotten that from when I stripped one off my spare engine!

No,
It runs from the turbo downwards and picks up between the alternator and PS pump,
Right on the corner of the block.

I may be having a senior moment, but isn't the PAS pump on the nearside on a Puma?

Alternator and Aircon on offside, PAS, fuel, and water pumps on nearside. Or am I have a major and about-to-be-very-embarrassing brainfart?

Laughing

No, I did mention that this is a 2.2 Transit engine,
I know the anciliarys are in a different location, but the feed pipe is in the same spot.

I did have a Defender in this morning, but you could not see the pipe,
On a Transit everything is a bit more accessible Thumbs Up 80" 80" 86" 88" 90"

Aha, no need for me to report to the old folks' home just yet then!

In the picture below taken from the Puma WSM the feed pipe union can be seen just below the turbo, which (thankfully) is where I though it was (phew!):

If you remove the engine from the vehicle, or remove the alternator (and aircon compressor if fitted) and then the alternator mounting monolith it is quite easy to find!
