I had a 110 CSW Td5 from new (200MY I think it was) and had no recalls on that at all.

Thanks for your reply Jim.
A couple of days have passed since Jim and I posted, no new responses since. Does that mean people agree with Jim and there were no recalls? That would be great! |

I don't know off any recall. Land Rovers does very few recalls officially. Most are just done on next service.
The oil pump bolt is probably changed on your Laro if applicable (otherwise it would have fallen off already) Oil in the ECU loom: I am not sure that there is a definitive cure for that. I believe the newer plugs are better sealed but if this help for 200.000km I don't know. I changed cables and placed the ECU between the seats so I hope the oil (if it comes back) won't flow in my ECU. ANd the ECU is placed a lot higher so I first get wet trousers before the will get wet. Were do you live? Close to me? You can ask a friendly Land rover dealer to see if there some outstanding issues. I did that before I bought my Disco 3. Land Rover tracks everything that is done by all dealers. Hi Roel,
thanks for replying. Isn't the problem with the ECU that the oil comes through the wiring loom and finds its way into the ECU through the connector? So repositioning the ECU wouldn't help in that sense, the loom is still attached to it (when wading rivers it would be beneficial of course), or am I wrong? I live just north of Eindhoven by the way, so quite a drive from Lelystad I suppose. But it's always nice to meet a fellow Dutchman online, and perhaps even on a Dutch LR event one day? Groeten! |

Yes the oil comes through the wires cores but I hope that if the oil comes to the red connector that it will drip down and not up into the ECU.
It's not my 90 but I have my ECU mounted like this. Probably I will be in Katwijk next saturday; http://www.modderpoel.nl/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=27268 Roel 1984 90 2.5 na Diesel - RR V8 (1994-2001) 1997 Camel Trophy Discovery 300TDI (2001-2009) 2005 G4 Discovery III 4.4 V8 (2008-2018) It's gone but it still hurts. 2003 90 Td5 (2009-now) |

Ah, you mounted it upright, good thinking!
I don't think I will be in Katwijk, my car is still waiting to get cleared for use in NL (I bought it in Germany recently) and besides, I do not plan to do any serious offroading with it (unless I run into some on our travels). Have fun though! |

When you replace the injector harness (the one inside the cam cover), pack the connector shell with silicon or rtv sealant and let it cure before fitting the new harness. The oil problem stems from oil migrating past the connector pins and then running down inside the insulation of each conductor. Seal the connector properly and it won't happen again. My Disco2 has now down over 175k miles since I did this and there is no trace of oil escaping into the engine harness. |
