Speaker led headlamps misting up inside
Has anyone else suffered condensation inside their led headlamps ?

I fitted a set about 8 weeks ago now and apart from L2B run vehicle has been standing on my driveway. I noticed today that both lights have misted up inside Shocked Emailed Tim just awaiting a reply but curious to know if others have had the same fault.

Simon – you have a PM

If you have physical droplets of water inside then that would be without question warranty.

Small patches of condensation will burn off when the lamp is used and heat is generated. There is always an amount of moisture in the atmosphere and during certain conditions this can condense on the lens. There is an acceptable level of condensation that various manufacturers accept and it can be seen more on HID lamps and LED because less heat is generated during operation so the moisture does not say suspended but condenses.

Most major car manufacturers “suffer” from this problem including Land Rover and various methods are employed to overcome it with the most common being a Gore patch which will allow suspended moisture to pass but not physical droplets so allows the lamp to breathe whilst retaining its integrity against water ingress from rain etc.

JWS use a Gore patch on the majority of headlights and driving lights, which allows the lamp to breathe however the irony is the lamp can breathe in saturated air which can later condense on the lens such as on a cold day driving down the road.

If anyone has any questions then feel free to email me tim at mobilecentre.co.uk

I wouldn't worry until it's like this... Razz

That's the smallest amount that's been in there for a couple of years now, seems to vary with the seasons!

In all seriousness a small amount of water in an LED lamp isn't really of much concern I'd have thought. It's not like it will blow the bulb like it can with H4s.

Just fitted my ones and have been for a run to fine tune the light pattern. Noticed condensation on the inside of the lens in front of the top and the two side lenses. Never noticed condensation on the crystals, then again I wasn't looking for any. The condensation doesn't concern me as Tim has stated above the reason for this happening. Also another possible factor is that they came from the house, from a nice warm living room, out into a -3 evening to be fitted onto the Puma, so I am thinking that maybe a little condensation is to be expected in my case? I will keep an eye on them though. Thumbs Up

Been for a run and the condensation has rescinded from what it was.

Checked them again first thing this morning, and the temps have equalized as the lenses are completely clear now with no signs of condensation. Very Happy
