my 09 runs far smoother than the 07. The 07 did seem to have better build quality & paint finish. 09 has more wind noise around the drivers door and a hammering sound by the offside wing.
Same funny squeak, squeak, squeak when turning offthe engine. Engaging diff lock for high/low is not as smooth. Sometimes takes quite a few goes for the diff lock light to come on. It does pull like a train when towing, so did the 07, which if anything seemed to have a bit more poke. I guess it is just a lottery with the defenders, how arsed the fitter could be on the day to build the thing correctly. It must cost LR a fortune in warrenty work. Would be far better all round if they had proper quality checks throughout production. |

Thats fair enough but they aren't exactly cheap are they?, and as a utility vehicle they have got to work and be reliable too. Its not much to ask that there should be a bit of consistency in build quality. Richard 1963 Series 2A truck cab 2008 110 SW |

Fair and valid points
However .......Its not rocket science to think that as any product evolves over time...it will get improved and most owners of the newer vehicles are not having as many issues as the early variants. So..we all know the diffs are weak, they are still failing due to the fact they aint man enough for the job. if mine goes i will get it replaced under warrenty....unbolt it, put it in a box, and then buy an ashcroft one As every component fails, i will do the same with better quality afternarket parts. I know i shouldnt have to, but i like buying shiny new things in big boxes Come trade in...hopefully i wont have a shed like a Britpart warehouse when i come to bolt everthing back on again Now most of the above was written fairly tongue in cheek i admit, however a diff upgrade is something im seriously considering anyway. With regards to build quality, whilst im not defending them, we must remember that the cars are pretty much hand built so there will be the "odd" issue..not ideal but welcome to buying one of the most iconic vehicles on the road....i think im just gonna enjoy it You cannot teach stupid people to do clever things Last edited by discocuzzy on 2nd Aug 2009 7:36pm. Can't remember the last car I bought that was faultless and didn't benefit from aftermarket improvements. Just it seems to be compulsory on LR products

I will be heading to my dealer soon and will be asking about a 110 dcpu. I wonder if I could ask them to supply the vehicle without diffs, propshafts, 1/2 shafts.

Thats sort of the issue - We sort of need the space of a 110, but like the 90 more + all the issues the new one ive just given back after a week has started, mine is better. Net result we will just put up with less space in the 90 I think Mike |

After this second summer vacation and camping in mine I see somethings that need to be looked after.. firstly the rubber gasket they put inside the top of the door that keeps the weather out.. it keeps falling out.. the back door is a bit open at the top. the side passenger door lower seals also come off.. my seat foam has decided to come out ??? and I've been driving on the metal on my right back side.. I didn't notice this, my kids did. There's this fan under the passenger foot well that makes a funny noise. all of this is nothing due to the water leak problem I had Sunday night coming back from German and had to stop every rest stop to make sure it had water still in it.. But so far LR has been kool with me, gave me an Audi A3 for a replacement car but I have to give it back tomorrow and so far the garage working on my LR doesn't want to give me a replacement car because I didn't buy my LR from them.. anyway LR Europe is trying to help and tomorrow I will see what they will come up with.
I love my LR, but man you guys can scare the out of me sometimes.. I gambled on this truck, and my wife is paying!!!! 2008 110 2.4 tdci csw Landrovers of Switzerland Club member |

My May 07 puma is number 65 off the line and personally I think LR have probably made a lot of cut backs on quality checks etc.
I’ve nearly done 40k miles with very few issues |
