not defender related but kind of land rover related.....
me dad was trying to remove the under engine / sump plate with his Brittool socket set (only 3/8" drive) and was giving it a little too much welly and split the socket. A BIG to Brittool though cos after 40years they replaced it free. you can't say fairer than that can you? |

Britool = top quality, shame that it is now a French company (owned by Facom).
I think though that King Dick, another great name in quality tools, is still British. |

Not to be confused with the US tool company Ridgid Tools, of course. Many years ago when I worked in a different job we used each year to receive a complimentary copy of the (very appropriately named) "Miss Ridgid Tool" calendar, courtesy of Ridgid Tools. |

“Britool = top quality, shame that it is now a French company (owned by Facom)”
I didn’t know that… but it explains why the Britools that date from the first cars I worked on (AF and Whitworth, obviously) are deeply chromed and look as good as the day I bought them over fifty years ago. Whereas the spare set of tools I’ve just built up to keep on the boat obliged me to buy some additional sockets and spanners - I stuck to the Britool brand - which don’t appear nearly as good. Until now, I’d though it was just for reasons of manufacturing economy. Peter |
