Thermostat
I do a lot of short runs and find that the engine takes a while to get warm yet obviously I want the oil up to working temp asap. Has anyone had any success changing thermostats? Any other suggestions?

Possibly an answer, but I'm trying to stop the coolant getting to the rad in the first place so it stay only around the engine until it gets nice and hot.

This is what the standard thermostat does. The engine will get very warm very quickly. The thermostat then opens and allows the rad water to circulate.

The temp gauge is reading water temp. This is not the same as engine/oil temp.
