I am wanting to fit an awning to my 90 in prep for my OZ loop! But I really don't want to fit a roof rack as I cannot get my truck into the garage with one fitted!
I was looking at this awning from Oztent... it is 2.5m long... a bit longer than the roof length of the 90 which is 2.1m long. I am wondering if the extra length would be an issue as well? Foxwing Awning Does anyone know if there is a product made that will allow some sort of gutter mounting of a side awning please?! Cheers, Pete. YOLO... You Only Live Once... |

Cheers Brendan.
I posted the same on the Australian site, AULRO and have got a suitable solution! http://www.4x4awnings.com.au/accessoriesparts/ They do a good range of awnings too... I will probably go with this one as it is quite light, but a good size... http://www.4x4awnings.com.au/series-2000-retractable-awning/ Will go for 4 mounts I think, not just 2. Perhaps useful for someone in the UK... Cheers, Pete YOLO... You Only Live Once... |

I have always fancied the idea of an awning, or even two, but have no experience of them whatsoever...
The big (unknown) but for me, especially over here in windy flat East Anglia, is how they stand up, or not, to the wind when fully extended... Are they prone to act like wings and be at the mercy of the slightest gusts while quietly enjoying one's picnic beverages... Rog... The GREEN One... Wings... and if the Arctic wind is strong enough it will blow you all the way to sunny Oz!!
When UR here... you will defo need one mate! Ozzie seek the shade, not the sun! Weirdly. all very... well 'upside-down' thinking really! YOLO... You Only Live Once... |

Hi Peter, thanks for the links.
I am struggling to see how that gutter clamp would work with a Defender rain gutter. That is probably a problem with me visualising it on a Defender rain gutter rather then anything else. Would like to see a photo of the mounts on a Defender rain gutter. Roger, we have had a Foxwing out in that 'nice shetered' spot in Lincolnshire known as Manby with 55mph winds blowing Each pole was doubled guyed down with an extra guy on the middle of each panel. Biggest problem was putting it away but we drafted in some extra bodies to do that. Brendan |
