Rumble rumble...
My 90 is in need of some help from the Defender2 doctor.
Patient - 2003 Td5 90 with 82000 miles on the clock
Ailments - Rumbling noise, suspected from the front end. Most notiable when cold at above 40mph. Sounds like a wheel bearing or flat tyre.
Steadly getting worst over the last couple of months.
Treatment so far -
Replaced the wheel bearings on the front axle. (one was seized on and required the angle grinder to get it off). Sadly this didn't cure it.
I'm running on BFG Muds so suspected that they might be the cause so got them balanced again - no change. Tried swaping the spare (a General Grabber) with the front left and then front right wheel - no change.
I've taken the front prop off and confirmed the UJ's are in good condition.
All oils in the axles, swivels, gear box and transfer box are fine.
So, open to the forum. What's the diagnosis? Is there anything else I should check before letting the local garage assess the problem?
Any help would be much appreciated.
Cheers

Are you sure it is at the front as noise travels, I had a rear wheel bearing going on a 90 that felt like is was.coming from under the drivers seat!BM52
