For our roof tent we've gone with the Ring LED tent lights - one upstairs in the tent and two downstairs in the awning. Perfectly adequate for reading/cooking by and powered off the auxiliary battery. They have an In-line on/off switch in the cable. We've hard-wired a single 12v DIN socket on the outside back of the Land Rover - off this we use a 'cup-holder' style double cigar lighter which provides power for both lights and also double USB for charging the iPad/iPhones.
We use moonlight / starlight / headtorches outside the tent! http://www.gooutdoors.co.uk/ring-27-led-tent-light-kit-p195324 Plus an add-on http://www.gooutdoors.co.uk/ring-27-led-tent-light-add-on-p195261 And power supply http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/...yId_254707 Our blog - http://landytravels.com/ Yorkshire Off Road Club - http://www.yorkshireoffroadclub.net |

We used to use the same lights as above, but found them to be fragile and far to delicate to be reliable so brought
http://www.devon4x4.com/index.php?page=sho...;Itemid=14 Got this about four years ago now, and its had much abuse, but stands up to it all. It's been removed from the camp kit to permanent storage of the truck. Also good, but rechargeable battery are. http://4x4overlander.com/lights/guardian-l...light.html These are amazing for the money, very robust, Andy |

I have a hannibal roof tent and downstairs room mounted on my sankey trailer. I use a candle lantern in cold weather in the sleeping quarters - warmth and light! There is an LED strip fixed to the underside of the fold out part of the roof tent with power from a 12v battery in the trailer. I also have a military 9x9 tent lit either by gas or LED powered from either the trailer or land rover.
I'd post a photo here if i knew how to do that![/img] 110 Defender 300tdi & Penman trailer with ally exped top and roof tent |
