As Defender owners have to be resourceful to keep our vehicles running, I thought it might be nice to "show off" all those (non-Defender) hair-brained projects we waste the rest of our time on with kids school projects/when we can't sleep etc. Please tell me I'm not the only one...
A couple of my wilder ones: Saw some 500W 12V motors on eBay a few years ago and had an old pull-along trolley, so sons and I built this "around" them: ![]() Click image to enlarge ![]() Click image to enlarge Speed trials with a willing 80Kg "victim" confirmed top speed of 25Km/h - he was smiling even more after the test... and yes, those are DRLs ![]() When our VW Bus was "retired" to Tanzania, it seemed a shame to waste the almost new YellowTop battery, 400W amp and speakers. The "side-sub" came from my wife's car when I reclaimed the boot space and replaced it with a Kenwood unit (cheers Steve for the advice). With 66AH capacity, built in charger, jump-start outlets... and iPod connector, meet "The iBeast": ![]() Click image to enlarge It was supposed to be portable but "rollable" was the best I could manage. It's very loud  Admin note: this post has had its images recovered from a money grabbing photo hosting site and reinstated ![]() But shout it at them in German because life is also terrifying and confusing... |
