Random Pieces of Metal
So last year Porny changed my oil when fitting a new turbo and a small piece of metal came out with it. It was unidentifiable and not recognisable as anything from the inside of my engine, the car continued to run fine.

Today, town and country rang me concerned that when they took out the sump plug the oil was coming out at a funny angle and after a little investigation also recovered a bit of metal, still completely unrecognisable as a part of the TD5. The car still runs and sounds fine.

So while I save up for a new engine which i'll need when I finally find out whats falling apart it reminded me of advice I was given as an apprentice: "Never put your own name on your tools, you never know where you might leave them behind"

Whatever it is it's been there for a while longer than when it first came to see you and it's doesn't seem to to have done it any harm. It's just a sign that I need to start saving up for an IRB special full race spec engine Wink

Took it around the corner for a quick MOT expecting it all to be fine and it failed so took it to them to get it sorted quickly. They have done a few bits and pieces on it before and i've always been dead happy with their work and their prices. Needs to be back on the road so I can go and pick up my new Sankey trailer

As soon as it's through it's test i'll be heading back for some more engine work, loads of LEDs and a DLR bumper. Thumbs Up

Today's call was for chassis repairs, steering box leaks and another MOT failure. It's amazing that 2 test centres failed the car on 2 different things. Just goes to show how much discretion there is on the judgements made by different testers. What makes this harder to understand is the fact the failure notes are logged.

Good idea, how old is your TD5?

I took my sump off to reloctite the oil pump bolt for peace of mind after a few stories of them coming out!!

Doesnt take long, 2hr max if you take your time and give everything a good clean. Any pictures of these mysterious bits?

Not seem any of the bits yet. I'll get them and post up the pics.

The sump needs to come off at some point put as the car is running ok and I need the car back for a trip to pick up my new Sankey it will have to wait until after then.

It a 2000 model. Had it 4 years not and it's always been fine, must have just hit that point in it's life.

Saving for new engine and chassis swap now!
