Yes, they knocked over 3 kids and demolished their own garage.

This was discussed a while ago. I seem to remember the consensus was "bad idea". The bonnet is flimsier than the old ones and would probably have a few issues with the weight... unless you fit a space-saver
Also the bulge would set it right in the field of view... But then, it might be fun to try p.s. Greeni - oh yeah, I remember that Tell someone you love them today because life is short. But shout it at them in German because life is also terrifying and confusing... |

Don't the military stick them on the side? Tell someone you love them today because life is short.

Is the bulge there to clear the engine or to give the required gap between the engine and the bonnet skin for impact tests?
If my assumption is correct, with a wheel fitted this gap would not be required for that reason and therefore the bulge could be removed. I sit so high in my defender I doubt a wheel would obstruct my vision in any way. |

Impact test on a Defender
The bulge is there because the Puma engine is higher than the Td5 You never actually own a Defender. You merely look after it for the next generation. http://youtu.be/yVRlSsJwD0o https://youtu.be/vmPr3oTHndg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_GtzTT9Pdl0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ABqKPz28e6A https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rLZ49Jce_n0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XvAsz_ilQYU https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K8tMHiX9lSw https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=dxwjPuHIV7I https://vimeo.com/201482507 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZSixqL0iyHw |

Without the soundproofing there is a sizeable gap between the rocker cover and the bonnet yet LR still reduced the amount of metalwork. I bet there is quite a gap in there |

I have an NK engine blanket (sits close to the engine cover) and the bonnet rubs the top of it - don't think there's that much room... Tell someone you love them today because life is short.
