Hi all, Paid the seller via Paypal the outstanding balance yesterday morning then waited for Jason who was the driver that was gullible enough to drive me 203miles north to Lincoln to pick my big mean green machine up!, went to pick up the pre booked hire trailer at 10am which looked like it was gonna be tad narrow for a 90 with spacers and 35" simexs but nonetheless had spare 7.50r16 wheels to take care of that eventuality and drove all the way up via M50,M5,M49,M1 then cross country.

got there without a missed turn navigating by old style road map book Smile

this is the sight that greets me, even more excited it looks better than the ebay pics.

will it fit on the trailer or not?

nope it won't, its a good 5 inches oversize! so 2 35' tyres taken off and crappy little wheels put on, its still blooming tight though!!

Censored wheels put on and strapped down, but man how soft is my 110 looking? low rider on the rear! so low we had to bend some wheel arches away as it was rubbing on the tyre! think i need some firmer springs if I'm going to be towing the Hulk to events!

Left the farm with good coffees down our bellies provided by the sellers father who was a farmer, navigated our way a few miles but missed a turning but some quick alternative route finding in my map had us taking a rat run thru a narrow lane which was a tad butt clenching with a trailer thats much wider than the 110 with it straddling the white lines and verges! and high speed traffic coming the other way, and what do we find! a blooming ford! so we splash thru the ford giving the 110 a good wash of its belly and watching the trailer all but disappear underwater!!! luckily made it thru without fuss! phew!!!

half way home at the services on the M1, stopping to fill the tank up. the 110 did the entire trip on just over a tankful so thats 470miles. which is bloody good considering all the drag of the roof rack and the trailer!

Burger King stop at the same services, looking good in the low sun Smile

Plan today is to get it off the trailer and parked on the drive and change the wheels back before returning the trailer tomorrow morning and the borrowed wheels to a mate who lent em to me then give it a good going over. possibly get it MOT'ed next week and tell him to be extremely thorough like I do with any new old car. 2008 Santorini Black 110 XS USW (Sold)

Ah the joys of a novice tower and the oversized defender! TO much weight in the back plus the nose weight of the trailer Rolling Eyes

i've got just the trailer for you! but looks like you'll be skint for some while hilst owning and maybe even using a challenge style truck.

Wasn't much I could do about it.
I needed the spare wheels to make it fit onto the trailer and wasn't anywhere else to put them as I ran out of straps!

What sort of trailer do you have tig? id be after one as I dont want to keep throwing money away on hiring one.

to be fair the 110 did really well, temp was rock solid and didn't struggle at all except the steep motorway hills where we had to drop down a gear. 2008 Santorini Black 110 XS USW (Sold)

Lol that is certainly a thug!

I am intending to do a couple events next year Smile although I've been offloading for years I'm new to the challenge/trails world so which event would be good for a starter do you reckon?
These 37 inch maxis certainly is blooming wide! tempted to get some for mine as the Simex Centipede jungle trekkers I have on certainly look like they would destroy shafts and cv's if I'm not careful! 2008 Santorini Black 110 XS USW (Sold)

i'd stick with the tyres you have TBH. uprated shafts and 4 pin diffs ( NOT necessarily lockers) is an advantage.

the PAS takes a hammering so spare steering box and pump. A smooth driving style is an advantage, especialy in a manual.

4x4 adventures is a good place to start on there series.

Also the J33P boys are up at seven sisters in November. See the link on D44 forum as thats a great place to play and not far from you. May go myself, work dependant.

A lot! i bought it as a one size fits all trailer. it has ali side boards and then an upper mesh kit so it can be used for everthing i need. VERY nice to tow, TJ101 put me onto Brian James as i was going to get an IFOR. So glad i didn't.

I found the original build thread for it on LR4x4! Looks like it was built in 2010 and had a few extras I didn't know it had like a quaife front locking diff, and a brand new defender 300tdi engine was fitted so my engine is only 2 years old, i did wonder why it was so shiny!

The Lime Green, which was a perfect match for Ford Signal green. It was a Special Vehicles build, although apart from the paint the only way it differed from any other 300tdi hardtop was the sunroof in the rear.
