Wales 2009 Defender 110 Puma 2.4 XS DCPU Tonga Green
Am I missing something?

TomTom have been doing live HD traffic for years now. I bought one 3 years ago that had all those features other than the truck stuff. You buy the device for £200 with one years service followed by £47 a year after that... but the best bit was in that £47 it includes all the data downloads etc which you have to link your phone through on the Garmin.

Also, if you look at this map:

DAB is still quite lacking in the UK compared to GSM network:

I know this because when I was at home (West Wales) with a D4 hire car I thought AWESOME this has DAB........ I could not get a signal for more than about 2 seconds.

As for bluetooth hands free.... it had it.
Lane pictures-.....it had it.
Full European maps and services (Google search even!!)..... Yep.

For a regular car/ motorhome driver the Garmin one hasn't got anything new that TomTom hasn't been doing for about 3-4 years.

Yes the Garmin is free maps and traffic for life (only fr first owner). But for the same money you could get the TomTom and full services for 5 years- by which time technology has moved on and there will be something new and WAY better out to replace it.

Just my 2p worth.

OR, you could pay £10 a year for an AA full european road map which means for the same money you could do it for 40 years, by which time you won't need maps as we will be flying around in space cars Thumbs Up

Admin note: this post has had its images recovered from a money grabbing photo hosting site and reinstated Mr. Green

Chile 2007 Defender 110 Puma 2.4 SW Stornoway Grey
I use for years a Garmin 60 CSx as my main GPS.
Navigate with it Chile and Argentina without any trouble (anyway always I have a road map with my in case of failure). The screen is quite small but have the portability that we need.

Several days ago I bougth an Acer Android touch tablet (10") with a GPS included. I tried Sygic software in it that and proves to be very capable. Can use TomTom maps, etc. and the details appear to be OK

Looks like a good alternative to replace/backup my loyal Garmin.

Cheers Eduardo
