Engine options?
I've grown quite tired of the 2.5d na in my 110. Being in south east Asia, land rover parts shipped in can be quite expensive. What realistic options are there? I hear quite a number of people putting isuzu units in. Maybe a 3.0 turbo diesel out of a Toyota land cruiser?

The isuzu engine s an easy option, fits no problem. Otherwise a 200 or 300 tdi but you may struggle to find one

Nissan 2.7 or 3.0 are also known for a swap for landys. They should cost pennys over there. Puma 110" SW

Land Rover used to fit an Isuzu in Australia. Seems it was very agricultural sounding but was excellent in the rough. The Perentie had an Isuzu engine also. No doubt the folks on the Australian site will have all the info you might need. 1982 88" 2.25 diesel

I've been asking around and the Toyota B engines seem to quite popular.

The 15B-FTE is a 4.1 L (4104 cc) inline 4 sixteen valve OHV direct injection turbo intercooled diesel engine. Bore is 108 mm and stroke is 112 mm, with a compression ratio of 17.8:1. Output is 153 hp (114 kW) at 3200 rpm with 282 ft·lbf (382 N·m) of torque at 1800 rpm.

Taken from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toyota_B_engine

The 15b turbo is/was used in the Toyota MegaCruiser

Don't know how easy parts would be to get though.

1984 Defender 110 300 Tdi HT Epsom Green
The Mazda SLT was a popular fitment into V8 powered vehicles in the late 80's/early 90's before the Tdi became cheaper/more readily available.
Not many in the UK, but apparently a lot of them in Australia.

The Nissan TD33 and 4.2 Litre Toyota six cylinder diesels are also pretty formidable lumps. 1982 Wife

Did Noogles ever go any further with his conversion plans?

I've done a fair bit of research into replacing my 3.5 V8 with a turbo diesel, so can provide some insights.
