I agree the KM2's are one of the better looking tires. But doubt they are really good for pure road use, including 120km/hr on the highway..... Think in that case the GG TR's are better, and certainly the newer Contis You never actually own a Defender. You merely look after it for the next generation.

Whilst I agree with you about not buying them for constant road use, I drove 350 miles at the weekend mainly autoroutes at a pretty constant 130KMH and saw no issues, wobbles, weaves etc with them. Nick

In summer I run michelin xcl's on swb rims, very good on soft ground, but simply nasty brutal things on every other surface and they only get worse if it rains. In winter I run michelin xpc's, same size as the others at 750r16 but they are amazingly good even in Goo. Again swb rims. Rhubarb and custard let fly with their secret weapon.

I have 255/85 BFG MT's on deep dish alloys for muddy stuff, the rest of the time i've got factory 235/85 General TR's on freestyle rims.

The TR's are great. for bimbling around gentle laning they grip very well (i've literally just got in from doing about 160 miles around Wiltshire and the 'plain, not got stuck once!) and on road they can't be faulted. They don't look very impressive or butch though.

Its quite surprising really how well the GG TRs do perform in the mud tbh, certainly alot better than i thought they would - having someone on hand with better tyres handy helps you push them to the limit Wink 2005 TD5 90 Hard Top

Have been running our Land Rovers on BFG tyres for 15 years and have found them to be excellent tyres with long life.

Disco 2 is on 235/75/16 BFG A/T.

Red 110 on BFG M/T 255/85/16 on black mods

Black 110 on BFG KM2 255/85/16 on Anthracite Zu rims.

I'm running 265/75R16 BFG ATs on Black ZUs

Have been great even in deep snow (2 feet) and when playing off road, I have to choose my route carefully in sticky mud but after 3 years and 30k miles they are approx 1/2 worn, so will be replacing them with the same in a year or so. Mark S

My 2006 TD5 110 runs on GG 235/85/16's on Boost Alloys on a day to day basis. These are the original tyres, and have covered some 62,500kms.

When the Defender goes on a trip or out to play for the day or weekend it wears Black Dynamic steel rims with BFG KM2's on, in a 255/85/16 size which is getting quite popular over here in Aus on our Defenders. Very Happy

OK, going against the mainstream now as I seem to be the only one NOT on BFGs and not on 16" alloys or rims.

Mine is running on 265/70/17 Cooper STT pattern on Predator 17" alloys

You can get them at John Craddocks
