A bit of alcantara won't cost much. Very hard wearing and easy to work with.

Thanks Mal. I already have some faux leather in jet black in fact 1M x 3M I was just wondering about what some people did with their cubby boxes. This is the material I have: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/130508613815#ht_500wt_716 âï¸âï¸God Bless the USA 🇬🇧🇺🇸 âï¸âï¸

Steve,
I only paid £9 for enough real top quality offcut leather to do maybe three or four cubby boxes. Go for real leather, much more durable and harder wearing. Looks (and if you're a leather sniffer like me) smells better too! If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!! I was thinking about it but I have something else in mind too so the length would have been a bit long for real leather AND I wanted a continuous length and no stitching or joins ect. (You'll hopefully see in time) Persides have any real leather in this house and the dogs would probably eat it âï¸âï¸God Bless the USA 🇬🇧🇺🇸 âï¸âï¸ |

I have grey Suede, it's totally impractical, together with the grey suede seats - leather would be my choice.
other options: sheepskin ? Reindeer skin ? |

BP, Yeah I agree I did think of that straight away especially seeing as with mine in the winter it will get wet and likely a bit of dirt on it so not good. One of the advantages of both real and faux leather is it's much easier to clean than any fabric ect.. âï¸âï¸God Bless the USA 🇬🇧🇺🇸 âï¸âï¸

A little too HD I think for that. I was thinking the Leather I have with either foam (not too thick) or upholstry padding. I don't want to have the lid too thick as I will be a bit higher than normal anyway to fit sub size. âï¸âï¸God Bless the USA 🇬🇧🇺🇸 âï¸âï¸

Fake leather and thick block of foam from dunelmill cheap and easy, gives me somewhere to rest my arm. And two big bits of wood underneath with longer bolts raises the height much more comfy.

I could simply put it in the lid of my current cubby box and screw it down (the sub and the lid) but that's cutting corners and I'd rather do it properly even if it costs a lot more and a lot of work. Nothing worse than something your not happy with âï¸âï¸God Bless the USA 🇬🇧🇺🇸 âï¸âï¸

Crocodile or snake skin ...or how about zebra or leopard hide to give it that going on safari feel?
