I know i,ve seen this on here before and i may have even answered to a previous post !
But I want to know how those that took theirs off in the early days have faired with the Dealership when returning for Service / Warranty work. I am fairly well versed with the advantages of removing the restrictive pipe and offering up a free flowing item but have any owners suffered problems as a result ? either mechanical or other ? I do intend to have mine replaced in the forthcomming weeks however fitting it in around what is the turmoil created by work related cr@p is preventing this. Cheers. DEFENDER XS CSW 08 TONGA GREEN |

I suspect it depends on your dealer and how well you get on with them.
By the book, it would void the warranty for all 'affected parts'. That would presumably include the turbo. However, turbos don't have a history of failure so you'll probably be all right. If there was a problem elsewhere in the engine (most likely the rail) then it'll depend on your relationship with the dealer as to whether they claim that the de-CAT increased wear or changed the operating parameters of the rest of the engine. You should be able to argue that it doesn't. Worth discussing it with your dealer first if you get on with them and getting an official line. Well i've got to say that my relationship with the dealers is excellent, due largely in part to being a long standing customer and an understanding one at that !
Saying that tho and credit where credits due they are a bloody good dealership ! and an understanding has been reached by the two in that when its not right i tell them its not right and i dont get it back until it is ! theres none of the fobbing off or they all do that going on ! So i think a swift telephone call is in order and i shall keep you all posted with the outcome. I believe BAS do the Pipe dont they ? Are they still around i,ve not heard anything for a while ? Lakeland Land Rover in Coniston,
I cant really say enough about the whole set up really that would do it any more Justice than saying if you havent tried them really you ought to ! Make a day of it or two ? get there early enough to drop off the car after ensuring a replacement vehicle is waiting and once there nip off and take in the views ! I always go up with the whole clan, wife son & dog ! Nip in to ambleside for all the outdoor shops and then across to grasmere for some ginger biscuits and loads of food ! And let me know what your experience was like ! DEFENDER XS CSW 08 TONGA GREEN |
