All,
Final took the plunge and bought the Front Runner Expedition Roof Rack. Got it fitted up in Lincoln and within 20 miles of driving it wanted to throw it off!! I eventually found out that I had the wrong size wind deflectors fitted. Now I'm in possession of the right size, it is quiet as a post. Just returned from 1800 miles round France and through the French Alps and it didn't miss a beat. Thanks for all the advice, phots to follow. THF |

Hi all:
i´m finishing my selfmade roofrack for my 110" SW. DO you think is there a reason the back should end just at the roof edge? or should it go a bit further to the the gutter edge? Puma 110" SW ............................................................. Earth first. Other planets later |

There's a chap on ebay that'll weld you up a roof rack to fit your needs: HERE. Prices seem reasonable.
I saw a 90 yesterday with a roof rack I liked but wasn't labelled with a manufacturer, it looks like the one on page 102 (bottom left picture with the page number imposed over it) of this months, October, edition of LRO. Does it look like a Safety Devices rack or something else? Second question, can you mount a roof rack on the other way around? The roof rack in the picture has a raised bar around the edge but not at the front, for a roof tent you'd want the gap at the back so can you simply turn it around or are there complications in doing that? |

Hi guys,
We pretty much had the exact same idea, we opted for the OEM and got the main steeler to fit it meaning we could drip it up with the whole thing. here is a link to a little trip report and pics of the rack in full swing so to speak. http://www.landyzone.co.uk/lz/f15/1755-mil...98185.html |

Hi Guys, I am thinking of some Thule roof bars to mount my roof tent on my 2007 90. Does anyone know the specific feet I will need and the width of the bars needed? Also would you recommend getting the locking kit or are these no real deterrent? Thanks again.

Hi MK, Andy,
I dont know of any reason why the roofrack should end at the roof and not the gutter. Yes, it is common practice to turn the rack around to fit a roof tent. HTH. Regards, Mark |

Having had 2 in the past on different Defenders, I cannot praise the Patriot rack enough. Made by Hogarth Engineering their racks are first class quality and easily adaptable.

My 110 came with the OEM, it felt a bit flimsy at first but now I have got past the phase of protecting the shiny paintwork I quite happily stomp all over it when loading it up for Scout Camps.
The one thing I dont like is it is powder coated, I wish I could throttle the burk that ever proposed powder coating for anything exterior on a motor vehicle, it looks good to statrt with but once it is chipped or cracked then it incubates rust before peeling off. I much preferred my old Galvanised Steel one on my old 109, wish I had never sold it.
