Portugal 2010 Defender 110 Puma 2.4 DCPU Keswick Green
grill surround
Hi

My aunt had an accident with her 90... all solved now, she's rebuilding the 90...

I've managed to source almost every part (nearly new front axis, left wing, steering and panhard bars, and some other bits). But I have a doubt

the grill surround she had was like the def on the pic. But the one I got, used (as that new cost almos 200€!), does not have those square holes like the small pic on the right ... Are they needed? Or can I fit the grill surround without those holes...

 Regards
Joao

The two apertures with all the holes in (if I'm on the right track and read your post correctly) are for the intercooler to get cooling air.
On the Puma they are large apertures and an aluminium grille is riveted into place behind the holes.

See here:

Not sure what the setup is on a previous model! Either way the holes are there for a reason and personaslly would not fit it without them. Hope this helps. If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!!

Those holes are on Td5 and puma defenders; for extra cooling (around the main radiator and intercooler), so if you work the vehicle hard your engine may get hotter.

For general bimbling around I can't see there would be any issue.

You just have a pre-Td5 surround there.

I thought that was the reason!

Thank you both! Thumbs Up

But that's an easy fix, to get those holes in to place, as seen on that other post ! Regards
