Will I ever get my Defender?????
Here is the story so far:

Oct 08, I was informed I will be going away with work for 6 months, so I decided that when I get home I would have brand new Defender 110 Double cab XS to my specification. A couple of trips to my local dealer and I was shaking hands and handingover my £500 deposit, delivery was planned for Early June.

May 09, on returning from warmer climates I went straight to the dealer to see how things were going- they had a chassis number and confirmed it was off the production line and ready to dispatch to Marshalls of Peterbrough to have my added extras fitted, snorkel, chequer plate, rear step, fornt and rear light guards and steering guard.

June 09 I got the call- 'Mr Parry, your Defener is ready for collection, when can you pick it up?'- my reply 'as soon as possible'. From that point onwards it all went Pete Tong. First I made my £20K payment, painfull but I belived it was worth it. 2 days after they informed me that collection would be delayed to Friday the 19th at the earliest- not the best time when I have to drive it to Germany on the 20th. I then started quizing them about what happens if there is a problem when picking it up- they started dodging questions left right and centre.

Time to take things into my own hands. I got the dealer to send me pictures of my Defender to find out they had fitted wong extras and they were insisting that they are the right ones ant that they wn't change them. After showing them the accessory catalogue they have started backtracking and I am slowly getting my own way.

Anyhow, here are some pictures of my soon t be pride and joy:

I didn't want theRAI but they fitted it, but they have agreed to pay for me to replace it with one of my own choice and refund me the cost, includinga new wing, windscreen frame and spraying if needed Smile

ROLL ON FRIDAY!!!!

Or keep the RAI (to avoid leak probs of roof being played about with) and pursue them for some serious compensation. Through Customer Care, not the dealer. Full set of new tyres... 3 years free servicing...

The problem I have is when I fit a roll cage. I have a free mantec RAI to fit thanks to ARMYBOB and it should utilise the same holes so leaks won't be a problem. On top of that I will have a recipt for the purchase and fitting of the new RAI at about £350 (which they will refund) and then I will also be selling the one on it so should be £500 up on the deal. I just made sure they were putting it in writing that they will change any body pannels if needed.

It was registered in Gaydon as it is for export. It will have a different reg within a month again once I get it out to Germany.

Wow.. problem people are having with buying new cars.. I also had some simmular problems on my past 4x4. I ordered it with extras, and it arrived with nothing done.. then they wanted to charge me extra for the extras at a higher cost due to the fact that the work would be done here and not at Nissan. 2008 110 2.4 tdci csw

have you thought about asking for a new vehicle, due to the destructive mounting of the RAI? Cheers

I have thought about it, but I have been waiting 8 months fr tis one and other than the RAI (which we have come to a good agreement for me) I am more than happy with the rest of it. It is also a nightmare trying to sort out a UK car when in Germany

If I were t do it again I would just order the car without any extras and fit tem myself after collecting. It is just that I got a better deal by adding them and they are covered by warranty.

AAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHH, after reading the 'colour of choice' thread and Bob pointing out that Tonga was discontinued 3 months ago I thought I would phone through and confirm the colour as you can't be 100% sure from the photos, and guess what , yep you have guessed, the changed it to Galway green without telling me.

I am going to have to start writing a letter to Land Rover now.

Is there much differance between the two shades, it still looks smart, but they should have told you. 2.4 90 XS

Tonga green despite the name is more of a gray then green, where Galway green is a very green green. I will take it providing the compensation is acceptable.
