I have a cheapo Halfords sub box in the back of the 110. It's just ratchet strapped down behind the rear seats.
With a 12" sub and a 200w amp, it sounds pretty good. |

Is that 200w RMS or Peak? Lucky with the 110's with the extra room mine is a 90 AND I have to use the rear a lot too so there is out the question. I don't think using the console in the front should be to difficult

Not sure now, will have to have a look and see what the rating is.
I have a speaker "box" built up in the rear part of the roof, about 12" deep and the full width of the roof. It holds the amps (sub & mid range), my carPC and a pair of 6x9s. |

![]() standard cubby box with 8" clarion sub fixed on top; surrounded by 2 layers of 18mm thick mdf with a cut up cable tray to protect it (can sit/stand on top). An ex girlfriend got particularly amourous after sitting on the box for 5 minutes with the bass turned up ![]() ![]() ![]() the box is ported with a 2" diameter hole, and 8" long cardboard tube. |

![]() ![]() ![]() I was waiting for such comments. I too was thinking of using the lid on a made custom one but the practicality is not so good. I have another idea but I don't want to share it or someone will more than likely copy before I even get the chance. Let's just say 8" hopefully roughly 450RMS and 900W peak so packing a punch for the size! Amps could be located on the front side of the bulkhead mounted again on a custom job. I would use the faux leather / leatherette material for everything and the inside of the cubby carpeted. No way am I having carpet on anything else I hate the stuff as it gets dirty and hairs in it and what not ![]() ![]() |

kona,
in most cases i have put the amp inside the cubby box and never needed to adjust anything and no overheating problems even on a 9 hour journey. |

no worries
![]() i did use cabinet catches on my old box but i still scratch myself when i put my seatbelt on. i have found it easier to perminantly screw the lid down; the sound is better, too. The side port made very little difference to the sound quality, especially with the engine running, so i never repeated that on the other 2 boxes. |

The lid will need some kind of air tight seal as well as clamping down as otherwise there wouldn't be much point in clamping it down. |

self adhesive neoprene compression draught strips, aprox 10mm wide stuck down prior to screwing the lid down. i think these are still available from B+Q
