Well I blame Fekete for getting me to buy the BHP451RF Makita drill Laughing

I am now the proud owner of a Makita 451RF

I spoke to Makita this morning about the warranty, and the lady I spoke to said I need to purchase the additional warranty at the time of purchase. I spoke to Screwfix and they were not aware of the extra warranty.

A quick google and found a site saying all I need to do it register the serial number and do it on line....So I did, and now have a 3yr warranty Smile 1999 Defender TD5 110

I've got a 14.4v Makita that I bought about 12years ago(well I say 12 years, it's a bit like Triggers Broom! I'm on my 3rd body Whistle ) The batteries are original as is the box but it has done a lot of work as I've used it for building timber frame stables which was my business and when it was going to give up I would have replaced it with an 18v version but it carried on going!
You'll be happy with the Makita and going for one up the range as opposed to the hobby/diy versions pays dividends Thumbs Up

Well, some varied and interesting views on here.
Nonetheless I bought one of the dewalt ones on offer at B&Q this weekend.
The case clips are like tin so I don't expect it to last long, but the drill itself seems pretty good tbh.
I have another li-on battery which will work just as well if the nicad ones do fail.
The last nicad battery drill I had lasted me 12 years, so my view is if these only last a couple I can get another battery without too much hassle as its thier std fit battery.

All good in my eyes. Thumbs Up

Well, the dewalt was taken back the other day as it just failed to easily stay in gear. Spoke to one of their experienced ex trade guys who said they had loads of them back, but hardly any Bosch ones back. Yes the chuck is a compromise at 10mm, but I still have a black & decker firestorm 18v that has one of its batteries left that works to 13mm if needed.
The Makita one at the same price also had loads of returns.....

Bosch one so far seems to engage gears properly and the torque adjustment actually works. Thumbs Up

Time will tell..... Over on D3
