Fitting AIrcon
Hi All,

I am newish round here... but I couldn't spot anything about it...

I am pondering a tdci purchse and have a very much cheaper one which is a county rather than a xs, in the sights just now.

Other bits you get I am either not too fussed about - leather or hot seats, or like heated screen, step are easy fit...

BUT Aircon feels a bit more invovled... I am assuming buying as much as poss from a scrapper...

So ... has anyone tried it...
Does it involve an ecu ?
Is the wiring already in place in a county?
General opinions? AM I mad?

Personally I wouldn't fit it. I have an XS and the extras are great. Heated screen is one of the best inventions ever...... Back on topic now.... I currently live in Cyprus and the temp is averaging 30-35 and I still rearly use it. If it comes with the car great, but the cost of parts and fitting would be as much or more than getting an XS.

To a certain extent it is TOO good. I used it in UK as it would make the cab fractionally cooler. Here though I could put the heating on and it would be cooler!!

For example... I would say I work in between 35 and 40 degrees heat every day (in the workshop). The office where we do paperwork sits about 25-30 degrees which I find cold..... I would say Aircon in the Land Rover probably sits about 15-20 degrees which for me is WAY too cold...... I just open the window and enjoy the breeze.... about 25 degrees.

I just think the cost and hassle would outweigh the benefits.

As you can see from the other post I went for it. Mine works very well and will get a good work out in South of France, Spain, Portugal and Morocco. But the other thing to consider is the ability for a/c to dry the moisture out of the air - this will stop your screen and side windows from steaming up where the blower doesn't reach.

Most of the time it is not used (cycle regularly to keep the seals in good order) but you'll be glad of it on a 40C day in the south (not Bournemouth Laughing )
