Not as long as I'm alive Tell someone you love them today because life is short. But shout it at them in German because life is also terrifying and confusing... |

All this waving lark is a fairly recent phenomenon anyway, it didn't exist in the days before the Land Rover comics and lifestyle poseurs. Steve.
Owned numerous Land Rover vehicles of all shapes and sizes over the decades. Current Defender: A non tarts hand-bagged Puma 110 XS USW. [Insert something impressive here such as extensive list of previous Land Rovers or examples of your prestigeous and expensive items, trinkets, houses, bikes, vehicles etc] http://forums.lr4x4.com I used to be Miserable ...but now I'm ecstatic. |

If it's good enough for the Germans it's good enough for me
What with the Käfer and the Defender, I have learned to drive one-handed Tell someone you love them today because life is short. But shout it at them in German because life is also terrifying and confusing... |

Sorry but it did. I remember it happening in the 80s/early 90s long before Landrover went all "lifetyle" on us. |

I thought the waving started with Series 1's? Although there were some that thought they were merely wiping the windows... Darren

There are so many Land Rovers in my area I'd get nicked for dangerous driving if I waved at all of them.

It's not just us...
Kayaks - if you have Sea Kayak's on the roof of your vehicle - other Yakkers wave Motorbikes - Bikers frequently nod or wave Motorhomers also wave When the Kayaks are on the Defender, there's some serious waving to do - other Yakkers and other Defenders Defender "Puma" 2.4 110 County Utility (possibly the last of the 2.4's) |

I think it's a great tradition. Makes you feel a part of a crowd of slightly odd individuals, separate from the normal motorists. It's pleasing to note it's completely international as well. Anywhere you go, you are a member of a community.
