I've had this noise in my 110 from new (MY11) - it's only when motorway driving above 70 mph and everything is nice and hot.
When going from pressing the accelerator to releasing it, there is a whole-vehicle vibration and sound for a couple of seconds - very similar to driving over the ridged white line at the side of a motorway. I have a clattering handbrake at low speeds but I can't decide if it's just another symptom of that or a different problem entirely. LR dealer is needing some convincing. Has anyone else had this vibration with theirs? Otherwise the 110 is behaving very well. Cheers Matt Tell someone you love them today because life is short. But shout it at them in German because life is also terrifying and confusing... |

Unless this is something inherent to the 110, then the answer is No, and I've just come back from a holiday in France covering a good few miles at 130kph. Defender 90 XS 2010. LANDYWATCH

bpman: Aha! Mine's lowered by 2"
It's worse when fully loaded - do you reckon it's inherent to the 110 sitting low down and can't be "fixed"? I'd rather LR didn't take the car to pieces if they can't make it better... WelshGas - funny, I drove back from Italy yesterday with wife, all 4 kids, dogs and top box up to 130 km/h and that's why I noticed it again Cheers guys Matt Tell someone you love them today because life is short. I lowered mine my 2" (rear only) and had exactly the same. Back in the UK now and std height springs re-installed
you have 3 choioces .... 1. Replace front prop with Double cardon prop 2. raise back to std height 3. live with it DC props don't have to be really expensive - I have one on my 90 and it was about £250 ... I think |

I had and have the same noise on my 130. Dealer says it comes from the rear diff and it was replaced a couple of weeks ago. After that the noise was gone for about a week and then it turned up again. In a few weeks the rear diff will be replaced again. 2021 Defender 110 D300 HSE

This is exactly what I have had with my 130. I have had transfer box replaced this has stopped a lot of it especially the clattering at low speed. I'll probably go for 1. or 3. (need to keep whole 110 under 2 meters). If it seems like it's getting worse, definitely 1.
I suspect the reduced clattering at low speed might be a welcome side-effect, if they had to dismantle/readjust the handbrake when they changed the transfer box. My clattering handbrake is much better after someone at LR (who knew what they were doing) had a go at it Cheers Matt Tell someone you love them today because life is short.
