Hey all,
What can and cant be done to improve the suspension/comfort/handling on a MY2012 D90HT? I understand the CSW springs are fine for lighter loads but also offer a nicer ride. My guess would be that i would rarely be carrying more than 150Kg(max more likely half that most days) tools and parts. Mostly computer/server kit for delivery or servicing. Can i up-rate to OME springs and dampers without voiding my cover? Or would the CSW OE spec springs suffice and still avoid trouble with LR? Thanks, Chris. |

I thought that the CSW 90's had HD springs as standard?

Interesting, i will try tyre pressure first then.
150KG load would be a rare event, my tools are about 20KG and two/three servers might make 60Kg. Its just when rolling over speed bumps i need to get down to a total crawl or the back end snaps down again sharply and any kit i have stowed gets a slap. I am not a fast driver, i dont mind speed bumps too much usually but this is very noticeable. I though the softer springs might help after reading something about CSW versions being used in this manner by someone else on here, cant find the thread again though. |

there are many opinions on here by some very experienced people who all get my respect, they have taught me a lot.
one good suggestion i listened to was put on quality shocks which help with rebound etc. BM52 |

Yes moving to Koni/OME would be fine with me, my concern is whether or not LR will let the warranty stand.
I might call them about it. |

If you change shocks and springs and then have any kind of drivetrain issue at all, it is unlikely they will honour a warranty BUT it does depend on the dealer. eg lakeland landrover dont care at all, they say "everyone does it, if we said no to a problem we'd never honour any warranty work"
I had iron man springs and shocks on my previous 90 and it was superb - transformed the ride and handling. much cheaper than OME etc but equally as good. |

Drop front and rear tyre pressures to 30 psi. It will make a huge improvement to handling and ride comfort. Indeed, you can probably drop to 28 psi if you are not carying much gear. I just did over 1,000 km on dirt roads in central Australia with a load of camping gear on board with tyre pressures all round at 25 psi. Ride and handling were excellent. Speed was generally at about 80 kph.

I have read good things about Iron Man kit. The only place ive seen that sells it in the UK is West-coast.
I know when the warranty runs out i will no doubt replace the suspension and a few other bits, but now i want to keep the warranty for any big expensive things. Tyre pressure it is then, will do it tomorrow and see where it gets me. Thanks all. |
