Genuine puma style "LAND ROVER" bonnet lettering
Currently have grey ones on my chawton white 90.

Rest of the vehicle is a contrast of black/gloss black etc.

I don't fancy painting them in situe therefore it's probably easier to buy a new set. Searches on the net flag up "Genuine" advertised parts but dont come with an LR code and tbh... look a bit dubious in the font.

1) Can anyone direct me to a set of Genuine black letterings (If they exist)

2) To remove the letters, is it a case of heating up and pulling off followed by a clean, polish and adding the new ones with the template?

Thanks for your help. J Thumbs Up

Have a go with plastidip (you can get it here in the UK - when they have some in stock Surprised )

Here's how on youtube http://youtu.be/otCtkVePX_0

Not tried it myself (I'm awaiting orange in UK) but my brother has used on his Subara and results looked good.

Looks like it goes on well BUT, the only faff would be getting the tape nice and tight around the raised lettering... plus with the white bodywork would have to be spot on...

I'd remove them, spray them and stick back on however I dont have a template to do it as per factory look and would have to add some specific (don't know what) 3m style adhesive to the back...

Although on this video, the stuff around the Nissan badge comes off clean...

You don't need to get it masked off tight, thats the beauty of it, where the letter joins the surface there will be a 'join/gap' and that will allow it to be peeled off areas where you don't need it, there is a vid ref" wheels where they are sprayed in situ and its just peeled off the tyres and other areas of overspray.

Works well I'm told - worth a shot as it's a quite and reasonably cheap what of doing it.

I bought a set of genuine LR ones off of ebay, costs about £20 I think and came in LR wrapping.

I got fed up with them after 10 months or so, so removed them (just gently pulled them off, then used carb cleaner to get the residue off the bonnet)

My 110 is metallic epsom green, and even in that short period of 10 or so months the paint had marked where they were stuck. possibly a very good polish all around the area might have got rid of the marks.

Thanks for the feedback. I've added it to my watchlist and waiting to see if any genuine lettering links come up and how much they might be.

Looks like a big can... might get some and have a go at spraying the middle non aircon grille up in the stuff as a decider of whether to have that sprayed from chawton white to the gloss black a la the rest of the front Thumbs Up

The bonnet is already a genuine Puma with the light grey lettering. I'm not adding to a TD5 bonnet etc.

All I need is something of a contrast to match the rest of the vehicle.

I'm thinking maybe the Plastidip might be the simpler option as the spacing, adhesion etc is still as standard...

Thoughts? "Big green" 2000 Td5 90 IRB Developments modified (2004-2011)

My previous 90 was metallic epsom green. That's the beauty of the Chawton, you can get away with most knocks and imperfections without worrying about the gloss finish. "Big green" 2000 Td5 90 IRB Developments modified (2004-2011)

It's the chance of "cocking it up" for me without an appropriate stencil.

Also sourcing the double sided tape and cutting to fit flush to the lettering. I reckon I could only do this properly by sourcing a New genuine set with the card stencil to help me align it etc...

If left, the letters should stay on forever with the adhesive in place unlike a DIY job I'd probably do! Crying or Very sad

For an update, I've just bought a can of plastiDip for £15.

Watched a good few reviews online and has rave reviews from average joe's. It's cheap, worry free, looks great and also means I can experiment with a few other parts as discussed earlier.

The only faffy bit might be getting the stuff out of the small areas like the A and O. Might put a small blob of bluetac in the middle to I don't have to start with a tooth pick to get an area to peel from...

Good to see you were paying attention to the vids Thumbs Up doesn't look that hard to do, bear in mind it's not a gloss finish, you need to add the 'glossier' afterwards if you want it shiny.

Be interesting to see how it works out, I'll think you'll be pleasantly surprised.

Pics when done please

Definitely. I'll do a before and after jobbie. Yeah, I know it's that Matt finish but the way I see it, it's better than the wrong looking silver at the moment.... I'll take a look at the gloss stuff.

Feel like a proper saddo looking forward to playing with this stuff... Might even go over the rusty flat head screws on the satin checker plate........ Might do the dog! Dog Rolling with laughter "Big green" 2000 Td5 90 IRB Developments modified (2004-2011)
