Hi guys,
Been keeping an eye on ebay for a few months, but anything that is 'double-cab-specific' is always a lot rarer! (Or in Scotland!) Thanks for the offer Ash, i will def keep it in mind, but it is more than I really wanted to spend. I appreciate that £400 is not a bad price at all for a Truckman, but by the time I've travelled that far to collect it and then had it sprayed etc £400 will quickly become £600 plus. I don't normally penny-pinch when it comes to my landy, but currently saving for an overland trip through Zambia, Namibia and Botswana at Xmas, so need to tighten the belt somewhat! I've currently got a TransK9 cage for the dogs (which I highly recommend btw) which is sat on top of the tub as I have boarded it, but its high enough for them to jump, without having to negotiate the small door opening into the cage. Plus, having just done a camping trip around Devon & Cornwall with lots of extra clobber, I would have felt more comfortable if the extra gear in the back was less accessible to opportunist tea-leaves! |

It may not be much help, but when I needed one for my DC I bought a 90 canopy off the bay for (I think) £40 from a local vendor, and it was in very good condition. It was my intention to cut it down to fit the DC, but I also wanted a solid flap not the meshgate that came with the top.
I visited my local IW dealer to ask about the solid rear flap, and it turned out that buying just the flap would cost getting on for half the price of a new DC canopy with the flap already fitted! The dealer then went on to offer me nearly the other half as a trade-in on the 90 canopy, so in the end I paid only a little more than the cost of the flap, traded-in the 90 canopy, and got a new DC canopy. As you have found the genuine DC canopy is far scarcer than the 90 and this is reflected in the prices they command. I suggest that cutting down a 90 top might be a better approach - if you can get one for say £50 you don't have much to lose, and it is not hard to cut one down so neatly that it is not really obvious. There are two decent-looking 90 canopies (with meshgate) on the bay at the moment, one at £20 and one at £50, and there is a 110DC canopy on at £75 (which the vendor says will fit either a 110DC or a 90, which isn't true - it will be too short for a 90!) also in nice condition, but it's in Scotland. That worked out very well! I have heard how much the flaps are - ridiculous when compared to the cost of a new top. The odd cut-down 90 version appears on ebay every now and again, but again, not within reasonable proximity to me. Knowing my rather impatient bish-bash-bosh DIY skills, my version of a cut-down 90 top would end up looking like an abortion!

Hi Paul,
Looks just the job! Have you thought about £££ My tilt is in good order, but its the loop version, rather than the zip. |

Thanks adafish, I'd been watching that one too - not the prettiest thing, would def need spraying, but looks well made.. Darlington however is the other end of the country to me. I've provisionally agreed a deal with Paul (PC), providing we can find a mutually suitable time for collection.
