AIRSTREAM visit....shouldn't of.....
Well, we've been to see the Airstream caravans in Tebay today, the Missus is a huge fan and I love the original and think the new one is funky.

However, we rocked up and after sitting in the car and locking our cash cards firmly in the cubby box and sternly saying 'we aren't buying today', I couldn't believe the quality of them.

I'd say the build quality can only be described as 'shonky', then if you reflect the price to the quality of the build, I'd say they're 'awful'.
Sure they look cool, they have a following and I still love them, but my god, they aren't worth the price...

Anyway, they are now stocking TAB tear drops, made in Germany by Tabbert, I can't tell you how close we were to hitching one up Shocked Shocked

I went to have a look around there a couple of years ago and it was certainly an interesting experience. I really love the design and the whole 'ethos', but would agree that the execution could be better. I also agree that it's very difficult to justify the price tag. It always surprises me that they manage to stay in business! I haven't once seen one on the road, even around and about their Tebay HQ (maybe they deliver them under cover of darkness). Don't know if you've seen the 'Basecamp' model, yeah it looks cool but there's nothing to it! And they're 25k+.

The little TAB teardrops certainly have a strong appeal! Thumbs Up 2005 Td5 | 90 Station Wagon | Tonga Green

I have seen one or two on the road, but that's it.
The cheapest one was £28k or £32k if I remember, the Bambi Shocked
Funny thing is, there was about 6 in there under build, all with SOLD signs in...
The salesman sat in the top end van, the Missus was looking around and I was in awe that the 'show' van had the most wonky drawers, I'm not talking as if I was being particularly picky, but they were truly awful..... the finishing trim, where walls meet the ceiling on the inside looked as if they were put there buy a drunk badger, the interior alloy panels, where they were cut into 'traingle' even had sharp corners, no attempt to round them off. Awesome.
I won't be looking at them longingly on the road any more Laughing

Are they owned by Land Rover..... the description is very accurate if you are talking about a Defender Shocked

Funny Glyn, when I was writing it, I thought of the Defender and the whole 'one compliments the other' Laughing

We did decide, we'll stick to the Oztent, we're too young for a caravan Mr. Green
