Very RARE Series III 1-Ton for sale in Chesterfield.
Nothing to do with me but have been passed these details.

Hi , Im Neill from Cavendish Motors in Chesterfield, i just bought a LR to scrap, when i first looked at it i spotted a few clues as to it might be a 1ton. When i got it back to my place and checked it is, Series3 chassis no 26600120B, the chassis is shot, the bulkhead is shot, it has a nasty(unidentified)diesel in it, seats gone. It still has salisbury BOTH axles and the 1ton gearbox. It seems a shame to scrap it if someone out there wants a resto challenge. picture attatched. you can phone me at work on 01246 231156.
Cheers Neill

It is a genuine 1-Ton, only a handful of these left so hopefully it can find a good home. Obviously the engine is incorrect as are the wheels and tyres.

Admin note: this post has had its images recovered from a money grabbing photo hosting site and reinstated Mr. Green

I don't know what he would take for it but he knows how rare it is and he knows some of the bits are quite desirable. I don't think its going to be a couple of hundred, put it that way. I think you would need to move quick to secure it, he mentioned several times about breaking it up. Confused

You never know? That ariel might be for a two-way anyway, I guess the breakdown truck driver would have had one to communicate with base. I forgot to mention this used to be a Kennings breakdown truck...

Had this email today -

Hi , it has not sold so i will be dismantling it, but i have had some interesting enquiries from Italy,Germany,UK. The parts will be sold on Ebay, and clearly listed as 1TON. Cheers Neill

Quite a shame I think. If I may say, it is very frustrating that I get repeated requests from people apparently wanting to buy a 1-Ton, and then they fall silent when one comes up for sale.

Sounds about right. I just resent all the time I spent contact people who had expressed an interest in the past (nobody from here I hasten to add) and I never even got a thankyou, never mind a "oh sorry but I'm no longer interested". I think it comes down to folks wanting things for virtually free (I don't think the guy was being greedy with his asking price) and on their doorstep. The fact that it would not be tax exempt probably also played a part. Have to wonder about the folks who did contact him though, what stopped a deal being struck?
