yes just joined and already asking for advise!
I have a 2000 TD5 90 with some weird alloys on that I've never seen on any other Landy let alone a defender. The tyres are BFG AT's 265x16 and our house has a drive with 2 really tight turns in it, consequently it rubs the tyres on the castor arms both sides. I need more lock when I'm trying to get a trailer round the bends as it is a massive pain otherwise. I'll do anything..... rims, tyres, spacers ?? |

Won't help as poster has already stated that tyres are rubbing both castor arms. It would seem that what is needed are spacers or wheels with a different offset. LANDYWATCH

Thanks for the advise and yes I would prefer to dump the rims than go the spacers route. What would work the best with those tyres?

Tyres rubbing arms equal max lock.
Keeping same rims and using a smaller diameter tyre will give more lock but at a loss of ground clearance under the diffs. If you can not identify the rim put a photo up and someone might recognise them. Take a wheel off and measure the distance from back of mounting plate to outside of rim will give you a measurement of offset if you know rim width. If you are trying to reverse a trailer around tight bends then the smaller the wheel base of towing vehicle the better. Or consider a front mounted tow ball. Brendan |

Build a straight drive...if it's steep, which I expect because of the tight turns....engage lowbox on the way up...job's a fish

I've put 3 pics in the gallery.
Unfortunately the driveway has a sheer drop on one side so no go on that one. |

What? Having a steep drive, or a steering lock where the tyres reach the castor arms? |
