New Roof Liner
Hi

Bought a new roof liner for the 90.

Easy to take out, harder to put in?

Are there any videos anywhere of how to install the roof liner in a 90?

Also the rear view mirror has rivnuts which are f£"£$ how do I replace these? new bigger ones or is there another fix?

Cheers

Tank,

A few of us have done this mod. Myself and Butchers Boy have both written about it.

Have a look in the My Defender threads for our names.

My advice:

Soundproof and insulate the roof panel while its bare.

Get a load of fir tree clips and some extra long ones (what type of headlining are you putting in?)

Are you doing a full length or just truck cab area? 2016 D4 HSE

re the rear view mirror riv nuts - theres not a LR out there where these are well fixed. Do you mean they are spinning around?

The only fix is to tighten the existing ones or replace. You will need a rivnut tool but these are cheap off ebay.

In order to remove the screws with a spinning riv nut you need to grab it/ clamp it from behind somehow, sometimes you can do this with your fingers, then unscrew the screw. Some WD40 makes this easier.

The easy way to get at the rivnuts afterwards is to drill out the 3 rivets holding the bracket to the windscreen frame and get at it on the bench.

If you can describe more what state yours is in, I can help more. 2016 D4 HSE

Thank RRUK

It's the full thing I am doing in a Truck Cab 90.

Its the OEM Land Rover head liner from OEM Landrover. Looks well made.

I have the Rivnuts and two friends offered me the Rivnut tool to use. Hopefully easy Smile

I have just put the MudStuff plastic side panels in and I am worried I might have to take these off to get the headliner in.

I am dynamating the whole truck, roof included.

Will look you up on Def2 and see your post.

Many thanks

Tank,

Do you mean you have a hard top with a roof lining currently only over the truck cab area, or do you have a truck cab model?

I also fitted the MUD side panels in my previous 90. From memory you'll need to remove these to do the headlining. 2016 D4 HSE
