2014 Defender 130 Puma 2.2 HCPU Stornoway Grey
insurance Start and Stop
Ok so my defender 110 is not my everyday car and the time has come to renew my insurance...

Now I use the car mainly in the summer period and on and off in winter for short trips.

Im trying to find an insurance in the uk that will sell me 365 days of Insurance, but enable me to start and stop the cover when I please.

By doing this when I m not using the defender I can just stop the cover and start it again when I need it, thus not wasting Insurance covered days!!

any Ideas welcome, thank you

You can't keep a vehicle uninsured in the UK anymore unless it is declared SORN and the tax surrendered and then parked up off the highway.
New rules there have been TV adverts recently check out the DVLA website. If everything is under control you are not going fast enough.

No way of doing that. What you can do is declare the mileage..... so if you ony do 2,000 miles a year (not much use) they will cut the quote. But that is the only way...... only other option would be to reduce your cover to third party when you are not using it- what I do when going on tour.

Some companies now offer an insurance by mile type deal where you have a tracker fitted to your vehicle
