Cargo barrier / dog guard
Has anyone bought the LR genuine cargo barrier for the 07MY 110 Defender (part No. LR006447) and fitted it themselves?

Is it easy peasy or absolute fiddly murder?

Any thoughts very welcome. I have a little bit of 'goodwill' left behind the bar at the dealership and find myself needing a guard for the new puppy who has discovered how to jump the 2nd row seats! I fancy saving the fitting charge they will randomly pluck from the sky but would rather save shredded knuckles and the resulting grumps if everyone know it to be a job they would never do themselves again.

Thumbs Up

I tried a halfords dog guard but I took it back because the dog went through it in seconds!

I then bought the land rover one for just over £200 from an independent dealer.

It was fun to fit but I got there in the end! It did not fit that well.
Had to remove a bit of trim to fit the top brackets and the land rover bolts for the bottom bracket were to short so I had to find some longer ones. Independent dealer wanted something like £120 to fit it!

Nice strong guard once fitted. Its kept the dog in the back so far!

Its a shame you have to use a allen key to remove the bottom part of the guard if you wanted to take it out quickly but you could modify this I suppose. Top part comes out quick because or hand tightened knobs that are supplied with it.

Yes I have one. Easy to fit as per instructions. I did have to elongate two holds in the lower brackets and two existing M6 bolts stripped their thread on removal. 110 2.4TDCi

Thanks guys, i'm going to do it myself then. It's also something to attach kit to - fire extinguisher etc. Will post my experience in due course.

Nightie night, i'm off to count Sheep

If you attach a fire extinguisher to it a good safety tip is to get a wide Velcro strap and wrap this around the extinguishers body and the barrier behind. This will prevent it flying off into passenger space in an accident and is easily undone in an emergency. 110 2.4TDCi

I had one supplied & fitted as part of the purchase deal a couple of years ago. Like the LR ones I've had in other Defenders it does the job of keeping my gundogs and assorted paraphernalia where they should be but it's fiddly to remove and refit.
