I tried a halfords dog guard but I took it back because the dog went through it in seconds!
I then bought the land rover one for just over £200 from an independent dealer. It was fun to fit but I got there in the end! It did not fit that well. Had to remove a bit of trim to fit the top brackets and the land rover bolts for the bottom bracket were to short so I had to find some longer ones. Independent dealer wanted something like £120 to fit it! Nice strong guard once fitted. Its kept the dog in the back so far! Its a shame you have to use a allen key to remove the bottom part of the guard if you wanted to take it out quickly but you could modify this I suppose. Top part comes out quick because or hand tightened knobs that are supplied with it. Daz110 |

Thanks guys, i'm going to do it myself then. It's also something to attach kit to - fire extinguisher etc. Will post my experience in due course.

If you attach a fire extinguisher to it a good safety tip is to get a wide Velcro strap and wrap this around the extinguishers body and the barrier behind. This will prevent it flying off into passenger space in an accident and is easily undone in an emergency. 110 2.4TDCi

I had one supplied & fitted as part of the purchase deal a couple of years ago. Like the LR ones I've had in other Defenders it does the job of keeping my gundogs and assorted paraphernalia where they should be but it's fiddly to remove and refit.
