Stolen, Red 90 Hardtop, Boroughbridge, N.Yorks, 2nd May.
From Landywatch (sadly the 100th reported stolen vehicle on that medium Sad )
Stolen from Boroughbridge, North Yorks.

Quote:
Had my red Defender 90 300 TDI stolen on the 2/5/2012. Taken from our yard at about 3:30pm.
It had a complete rebuild about 5 years ago, so was in pretty good condition.
It was not a standard Land Rover red. It was a bit brighter VW red. I know it has probably been stripped down now, but any help would be appreciated.
The pictures were taken just after the rebuild. It was not quite as clean as that when it was stolen. In fact it was blathered in mud. Well it is a Land Rover after all

No info provided yet on what security was employed.

Owner of this truck advises the following security was in place.....

Quote:
It had a home made immobiliser that was fitted by an auto electrician friend. There was a hidden switch that killed all power. There was also a relay that was linked into the brake lights. This required the brake pedal to be press at the same time as turning the ignition key to turn the starter over.

Thee owner of this truck also flagged up the following on both the British farming forum and Landywatch.

Quote:

Just found out that 2 more Defenders were stolen from a village near here last night. A black 90 County station wagon and a silver 110.

must have been towed either that or it could be a local land rover owner to know most of the security on one, you never know Evil or Very Mad

Deffo wasn't towed ......

From the owner's post on the British Farming Forum wrote:
A friend in the village saw my Land Rover going past his house at 3:30pm.
I left the yard at 3:00pm to drop a spray bowser off at a customers. My wife left at 3:15pm to go and pick me up.We were back by 4:00pm. This was the only hour in that day that there was nobody in the yard. You could be forgiven for thinking that somebody was watching

Guess the thieves would have already targeted the LR and just been waiting for the owner to leave the yard in order to strike. With daylight and a bit of time on their hands, sadly, I can't see the electrical solutions he'd employed holding them up for long. Jon - 110 td5 [sold]. Currently Defenderless.

Makes me consider selling the Defender before returning to UK!! I can leave it open with the keys in the ignition here and it wouldn't be stolen!!.... they would just take anything from the glovebox, CDs etc.

I still vote for Trunk Monkey:
