Russia 2008 Defender 110 Puma 2.4 CSW Tonga Green
Fitted extra Racor Fuel/Water seperator to the Puma
Hi, had a extra fuel filter/water sedimentor fited to my 2008 Puma, runs well and good protection, where I live In New Zealand we have lots of earthquakes and service station tanks were/are not perhaps the best!!!
Heard of one dead freelander that had 10 litres of water in 40 litres of diesel in the tank when drained!!
Anyway it works and I am the second person to do it here In Christchurch NZ
use a racor 230 filter.
To see about it and photos etc rather than replicate here is the Ozzie thread I posted on along with the usual type comments. I hope at least this information maybe of some use to someone especially overlanding!!!I would like to take the Puma to Russia one day for a overland trip to visit my Russian wifes family and know there is a lot of dodgy diesel outside the main centres (and even in ) so its good insurance in my view.

Good job Thumbs Up

I have been following your post and the resulting comments and agree with your opinions on fitting. Every time I go home to the farm I always go into the workshop and have a look at the spare water separator bowls/lift pumps for the tractors and contemplate fitting this set up to my Puma. The only thing stopping me from doing this was adding another weakness in the already poor fuel delivery system plus the extra strain that may be put on the fuel pump in syphoning the fuel from the tank. The Racor housings and filters are used here in the UK as well and a few companies supply them but I have not seen one with the audible alarm for water contamination except for the marine engine versions, a simple but worthwhile mod? I will search google for this as I think I will fit one as well, and it is a no brainer especially when you think of the cost for replacing the fuel pump and injectors/rail due to water contamination from contaminated fuel stocks and the piece of mind it gives you from having that extra layer of protection. Thumbs Up Bow down
