United Kingdom 2007 Defender 110 Puma 2.4 XS CSW Java Black
Rear View Mirror with Camera
So today I took delivery of my new (to me) 110 which I will post more pictures of tomorrow when I've got all the goodies bolted on.

It has come with a very fancy reversing sensor system with a camera mounted in the rear bumper, this connects to a screen/mirror system that just clips onto the existing mirror. The problem is that the existing mirror on the ball socket can't support the extra weight of the clipped on screen/mirror and so is always pointing downwards and means I can't see anything out of it. The system works fine and so I'm very reluctant to unwire it and put it somewhere miles away from where it already is (if it ain't broke, don't fix it and all that)... My thought was to maybe mount it above the existing mirror on the arm and have it just as the screen for the camera and use the other mirror as the mirror the rest of the time?

Has anyone got anything similar or fixed something like this before?

Here are a few photos (hopefully) of what it looks like currently.

Cheers!

I assume there is a ball socket inside the mirror? If so, could you get it set up how you want it and then but some blobs of silicone on the ball socket to prevent it moving?

Im glad you posted this problem as Im about to order the exact same monitor!!

Sell the mirror and buy a bigger bumper (and wider spare tyre) Thumbs Up Tell someone you love them today because life is short.
But shout it at them in German because life is also terrifying and confusing...

We fitted the same type in our busner motor home which was based on a ford transit and was fine
I was going to get another for our 110 dc but will check the tightness of the mirror tonight
Ours is only a few weeks old so might be tight fingers crossed

Yeh, I like that one, and the Alex Gaudino/Crystal Waters - Destination Calabria video Thumbs Up

I assume that because it has 2 inputs then one of them could be used with a second camera mounted on the back of my caravan?

Can you provide a link to the supplier please ken?

Thanks guys!

It's currently at James French, I left them the problem as well! But I might give them a ring and recommend the silicon/ black tack.

Anyway, back on topic... Eric Prydz - Call on Me
