footwell vent
i seem to have sprung a leak in the passenger side footwell, ive cleaned the rubber teats, and it still leaks. ive eased the carpet away from the footwell and where the heater box joins the bulkhead its dry as a bone, but just below where theres a join in the plastic vent sits a drip. so im sure its not the bulkhead to heater intake seal, and must be the join it the plastic intake pipe Confused whats the best method of sealing the plastic join??

Any chance of a picture of where the leak is - it may be one of the many leaks I have fixed.

Well done Thumbs Up

Not seen that one but will have a look at the vent in the morning for you.

I had all sorts of problems with leaks in that area and asked for the heater box to be sorted. The dealer ignored me, thank goodness, and it was the windscreen frame to bulkhead seal. Not easy to trace but the water was getting in there and finding it's way to the heater vent area making it look like that was the problem.

If it helps mine only leaked there when parked on a slope where the passenger side was lower than the drivers side.

Have a look at the channel tucked up behind the mat above the footwell. Have a look from the door end and if you see rusty stains in the channel you may have the bulkhead seal problem.

Just checked mine and I have the same gap. It has been raining and there is no sign of water in that area.

i have the same problem i am sure its coming through the foam seal between bulk head and windscreen,my plan is to seal the full lenght of the foam seal with frosts black sealant.i have noticed after heavy rain the foam strip inside the car is wet and its tracking behind the dash and dripping off the vent, the carpets are dry but the mat is wet.

im certain that its not the windscreen to bulkhead seal, as i sat inside with a flashlight and my old chap poured water on the outside, and inside on the footwell was dry with no runs, then a drip appeared on the plastic grill but everywhere around it was bone dry including the foam seal around the mesh, so im sure its the mesh. think a might seal it with some sikaflex Thumbs Up

There was a link somewhere on this forum that I printed off recently regarding LR's proceedures for tracing water ingress. I was reading it last night and have exactly the same issue.

It says that certain 2007 models have a problem where water comes into the footwell through the vent grill due to the join between the two halves of the blower box and recommend replacement of the blower box.

Mines a 2007 and looking at your profile, I think yours is too.

Wonder how much a new blower box will be and how much grief to change?
