Preparing our next long trip for Jan-Feb 2013
Hi there!!!

Its time to dream again. Very Happy
After a quiet 2012 summer, we are planning to go to the Atacama Desert in Jan-Feb 2013.
Our trip will include some of the best landscapes that you can see here in Chile and will be completely different to our trip to the Patagonia the last year.
We are planning to go to Copiapo to know all the Ojos del Salado area (the same one used in the Dakar rally) and then up to the north using the altiplano routes (over 4,000 mts high) to visit El Tatio, Lago Chungara and the driest desert in the world to come back to the south through the coast. Will be a 6,000 km trip.

A lot of things to planning yet Mr. Green

Some pictures extracted from Internet (I hope I can get better ones after the trip):

Planning a trip to South america at the end of this year
Hello Eduardo,

We (2 couples driving defender 110's) are planning a trip to South America at the end of this year. As we are living in the Netherlands, our defenders are shipped to Buenos Aires in Oktober this year. At the 17th of november we will start our trip to El Calafate. On the 24th the ladies will fly from europe to El Calafate. From that moment we have 6 weeks to drive to Lima. In Lima our cars will be shipped back home.

In our 6 weeks trip we will visit at least:
Patagonia and Torres Del Paines and several other nice parks.
Santiago
Atacama desert
Salt lake at Uyuni
Potosi
Sucre
La Paz (including THE ROAD)
Titicaca meer
cuzco (4x4 macchu pichu)
Nazca
Ariquipa

If you have some advice, please let me know.

And maybe we can meet you along your trip.

AlpenAndes: we are in the wrong way. We just finished the south and now the idea is heading to the north. Maybe we can meet to share experiences Wink

This is our initial planning to be done in Jan-Feb 2012. probably 30-35 days.

For sure we can share experiences regarding the south of SouthAmerica and we can meet somewhere in Chile, we have very good friends along this route.

Cheers Eduardo
