2012 Defender 110 Puma 2.2 DCPU Santorini Black
Raised Air Intake
Hi newbie here
I have just picked up my new work double cab pickup demonstrator 2.2lt SX with 600 miles on Friday a swap for a year old Nav ok sorry for swearing but can't get the defender bug out of me and yes everyone I know can't work out why but everyone here knows why.
Right with Rocky I brought a hanniblal full length rack which they fitted, a set off Mud rails which the wife and I fitted after work yesterday and what an improvement a Raised air intake and the soft front A bar
The instructions for the RAI require me to drill 4 fixing holes
My question is do I need to paint/ seal holes with anything after drilling ?
Also do you think some sort of underseal rust proofer should be applied to the underside before covering with mud and can you recommend someone to do it around guildford area.
Cheers
Lee

Waxoyl or similar for the chassis. Personally I think it's something that you could leave without major harm. In the long run a good idea though. The body work holes for the RAI I would suggest you use a type of sealer (someone will better advise you) Also make sure the RAI is well sealed with sealant. (Again someone that has fitted one will advise you products) Which brand RAI have you purchased? Thumbs Up

Sealing your RAI depends if you have a Safari Equip snorkel type or LR/Mantec RAI type. The snorkel type only needs sealing against water ingress Thumbs Up the other type is to reduce dust getting into the air intake.

All you want to know about rusty bottoms here Thumbs Up

The LDR one from the accessories brochure I liked the look of it being one piece and no flexi tube yes expensive but good discount and I get vat back so also got A bar from them and got the dealer to order the hanibal roof rack so they could pass on here discount as nene overland would not discount at all ,but dealer let me have it at cost along with the Mud rails which have transformed the seating position beyond belief
The smile is so big at the moment I can't believe it's taken me 6 years to return from the dark side
I've been nagging the wife every day almost for about 3 years that it's a good idea to get one we even spent he day a year ago test driving them before getting another Nav

Thumbs Up Enjoy her Sparky, we like a picture or two on here if you have any Very Happy I'm only down the road from you if you ever need help with anything. Would be a good idea to look at Entreqs site for the rear mudflap supports if you have a 110, it will explain what you need if you want to make up your own Wink
