2007 Defender 110 Puma 2.4 SW Java Black

Radio Din Cradle on Base Model Puma 2007

Hi Guys,

Trying to get to the bottom of whether or not a base model Puma has a din cradle fitted behind the blanking plate? I know some have said before that it doesn't have one fitted and others have said that it comes with the original head unit when you buy it from the dealer.
Now I haven't had a chance to remove my blanking plate but I've just received a brand new head unit but it didn't come with a cradle.

If someone can solve this mystery for me I'd be grateful.

No, they'll be no cradle in place from the factory.

It is unusual for the cradle not to be supplied with the stereo you have bought, does it have another system of being held in place (a photo posted up showing the edge would help), if not then a din cage can be bought from Halfords or similar for about a fiver

Just got one and it didn't come with one. As for getting one from Halfords, I suspect you'd have to take the dash aprt to install it. Others here has previously said the one they got with the radio just had tabs to push down to lock it in place.

Anyone with a definative answer as to whether a new head unit purchased from LR comes with a cradle?

Ok guys, just got home and removed blanking plate - no din cradle in sight!

So, who can confirm whether or not when they bought the stereo from LR whether it came with a din cradle or not?

I seem to have hit a brick wall. None of the main dealers seem to know whether the radio comes with a cradle or not. I think this is bizarre. Anyone removed their factory fit radio? Was there a traditional looking metal cradle or something other to hold the radio in place?
Speaking to a couple of main dealer parts depts they can't see any cradle showing as an available part as the microcat only shows only the radio by itself.
Anyone got any ideas cos I'm ripping my hair out!

As K9 states. Why not just get an ISO single DIN cradle that is readily available? Like this: http://www.justkenwood.co.uk/car-audio.aspx/kenwood-1din-sleeve You won't get anything from LR because the factory fit radio doesn't have a mounting sleeve or cradle.

Sorry, have I been completely on the wrong track? You mean these stereo's simply have the rubber bung on the rear fitting into the bracket at the back and the clips either side just behind the radio fascia lock into the plastic hole in the dash and not into ant sort of cradle or sleeve?

Now I know I'm probably pushing my luck but I have one last question. I've just been out to the car to put the head unit in but I have one last stumbling block - the aerial connection on the back of the unit and the plug on the end of the cable are different. Is there an adaptor I can get?

It's the original LR single CD with aux - part no LR032536

Hard to picture but I'll try. Now you have the radio. That's that. Now the cables. Which aerial cable are you trying to plug in? As such there is a short adaptor that comes with the LR radios one end is a 90 degree plug that goes into the back of the radio and the other end a female socket that the aerial lead and male plug goes into. LR part: VSA500130

You need a Din to ISO adaptor, it doesn't have to be a LR part, there's lots cheaper
