I see your location - which dealer are we talking about? The fact you have a non-LR roofrack shouldnt make a blond bit of difference but if you're taking it in with a cb aerial trapped in the door seal you're kind of asking for toruble really.
Also scangauge shouldn't make any difference, it's a monitoring tool after all. |

It's in at Bury. There is absolutly no damage to the seal and for once it isn't even leaking!

I would try Russell (warranty manager) at Hillendale. He's pretty fair and is well used to dodgy door seals and badly aligned panels. They worked on mine for a week for example.

FWIW, water leaks can find their way down such a cable route quite easily. I had this issue on mine and routing the cable via a hole and sealing, stopped the leak.
Sounds like the dealer is being a tad difficult in try help with the issues, is it possible to find another..? cheers simon |

Thanks for the advise. I will try to contact Russell. I don't have any water leaks anymore-I'm not asking for any leaks to be cured. I just want the badly fitted/catching door (which they refitted last time) to be sorted.

Just a thought, but is it something as simple as the striker? That's pretty easy to adust yourself and would save you a load of hassle.

No mate. It's totaly out of square. It looks like they also dropped the roof a tad can see marks on the bulkhead/windscreen clamps, also one gutter is full of sealant after their last repair.

did they have the roof lining out to find the leak(s)? I've not come across one leaking on the side gutters, mainly the front (over the windscreen) or around the rear door..
I see no reason to take the door off or adjust it to stop a leak. got any photos ? |

Thought that would have made it worse Sounds as though they don't know what they are doing and just can't do it There is a guy with a hammer on the production line that adjusts the doors as best he can. He use the handle of the wooden hammer to push/bend the door in various places to get it to fit Pretty skilled though |

To be honest I reckon they cracked the paint in the gutter when trying to re-jig things. Easier to cover with sealant.

The problem most of the time is that they just haven't got the inclination, skill or care if they are doing it in house. I was going to suggest adjusting it yourself it's a fiddly pain but I would have thought they would have tried that first and the problem is the measurement and angle of the roof/windscreen and door gap. It's a shame they can't get it back to the factory to be looked at properly
They may have to though if it's not sorted having the door rubbing on the roof or pillar is obviously not acceptable |

Well I got it back yesterday. No fault found-nothing logged so it must be my imagination that I lost a days work because the blimmin thing wouldn't start It came back with a half hearted attempt at washing it and the obligitary extra scratches on the paintwork. Door not been sorted as it opens and closes with a slam, so the paintwork is still wearing. I couldn't stay and argue for fear of of going too far.

Been there in the past with the roof rack - its , dont stand for it....i didnt - fit for purpose i remember stating
The defender must be fit for purpose and cant prevent you from using 3rd party parts like that. Scanguage wont affect your warranty, thats like saying having an iphone plugged into the stereo means when it fails its not covered Seal - ok that one could be argued, but just buy a replacement. Mike |
