blimey - talk about timing. I just this minute saw an ad in a mag and as I was logging on to check email and forums had a browse over at Kia's website at this very car, at the same time as scrolling through this forum & thread!
What caught my eye, apart from the fact it's a good looking Passat equivalent, is 7 Year/100k miles transferable warranty. |

Far better than a Passat I would imagine. Noticed one of these followiing me the other day at first I thought it was a new design Focus until I saw the Kia badge |

I think I'd have one of these instead of a Passat, not just because of the warranty, but think it looks better too.

VW still keep pushing this reliability marketing blurb but consumer surveys indicate the opposite. A mate and my brother both had Passats and got rid of them after a host of serious problems. I'm new to Defender ownership but I've managed to find and fix every problem I've had so far (thanks to this forum). Kia and Hyundai cars may be soulless but they are very well engineered. Korea is the new Japan in this respect. Maybe Solihull will be one day

... and China aren't far behind (anyone see the Top Gear episode?) The key is in the service (yes, it still exists in some places) - Kia have clearly got it right If you go into many shops in Munich, the salespeople treat you as if you are wasting their precious time. I get the impression VW and Audi showrooms aren't much different Tell someone you love them today because life is short. But shout it at them in German because life is also terrifying and confusing... |

I came from S Korea.
Kia and hyundai sell their car in korea with poor quality and poor services with very high prices. The same car in korean market and in foreign market, totally different of quality. Many korean complaint to the company. However, they never change their services and built quality because there are not good alternatives for korean customers. Bottom line is Kia and Hyundai cars in Europe are relatively cheap and good sevice/warranty and good quality for the money, even though they are rubbish in korea. Live, Love, Pray |

...like Heinz Baked beans and ketchup.
Heinz change the recipes of their products to accommodate local tastes. Used to be much less sugar and salt in Germany but now that's changing. Yes, I know - that was off the again Tell someone you love them today because life is short. But shout it at them in German because life is also terrifying and confusing... |

Kia relatively recently headhunted the guy who was head of design responsible for the Audi TT (like it or not, it sold well and for a great premium considering it is basically a rebodied Golf) as well as other stuff. Their design is top notch and they are working hard on quality too.
Wish Gerry McGovern would off there too and let someone who understands the product bin and start again with the DC100...... C 2015 110 USW XS in Santorini with premium contrast leather seats in tan/black, black headlining and with Dual Finish alloys (in the garage, now on Wolf rims with Goodyear MT/Rs) 2012 '62' 2.2 X-Tech 110 USW now gone ... 1984 90 soft top with full roll cage, 200 tdi engine etc now sold 2012 USW XS 2.2 "FUU" now gone.... |
