Door lock mechanisms
OK Guys, last time you gave me the correct answer in about 10 minutes, lets see if we can break that record.......

This time it is the father-in-laws 130.... (2005 TD5, but not that its important).

Rear doors don't always "catch" when we try closing them. Playing with the mechanisms, going through a lock- unlock cycle or two before trying to close them again and trying "harder" to close the doors doesn't seems to have any effect. Last night he had to bungee the door closed to get home.

Where should we start looking? everything looks properly aligned, and nothing is visibly broken.

Don't let me down guys because the FiL was most impressed with the speed and accuracy of the replies last time I had a problem

Best

Jon

Edited because I had exaggerated. It took 30 minutes to get the correct answer last time.

Hum, not sure about this. I will have another look tonight, however when we tried to have a closer look, it did appear that everything was properly aligned.

What is the approved way of adjusting them? loosen the bolts and trying gently to close the door to get them in the right place?

Any other suggestions?

Thanks

Jon

Edited to add: this was the first thing we thought of, as the 130 is regularly used with a 900 odd Kg Tischer camper van in the load-bed, and we wondered if things had "moved"

Slovakia 2008 Defender 110 Puma 2.4 CSW Bonatti Grey
had similar issues

try taking out the small plastic shell at the door-handle (1screw) and leave rest as is. Mine were interfering with the handle mechanism and while everything on the lock-side was good this prevented the locks to close decently.

A washer glued on the inside nows prevent the shell to be tightened too much and all is ok

Had to take off and place back the complete plastic inner-doors multiple times, and breaking half of the pins before finding out.... Rolling Eyes

my 2 cents
