I'm not 100% sure but when the Smart was poorly it was a P0702 fault, which I was able to identify from the Internet as a transmission control system electrical fault, which I traced to chafed wiring (getting wet)

I guess the only way to really know is to create a known fault and see what happens, if that's possible.

Received the gauge today, not a bad service as I ordered it on Thursday from the states.

It comes with a window sucker which is far too long for a defender but would fit a eurobox with no issues.

Up against the scangauge the Ultra gauge is a lot smaller and thinner comparatively but lacks the option of a removable connecting cable and the scangauges 2 connection sockets (side and rear).

I only had a brief play with the UG in the Puma, as I will need to route the cable behind the dash before I leave it in for testing. I won't be using the supplied window mount either, as I mounted the scangauge onto an old sat nav mount that I had cut down to size. I then applied adhesive velcro onto the mount and the scangauge and have already applied the relevant velcro side to the UG and it fits well onto the scangauges window mount.

I did have a quick scroll through the options and gauge screens (There are 8, all user programmable), and noticed straight away the addition of a couple of gauges that the scangauge doesn't monitor, MAF g/s and Torque in newtons. There are also user settable Alarm functions for all the sensors monitored. I had a play with the coolant alarm and had it set to go off at 10C (Ambient air today was 6C), so I started the Puma and once 10C was registered in the coolant temp it started bleeping and a warning message scrolled onto the screen. I will fit it and have a play tomorrow and do a comparison with the scangauge on functions and abilities and then I'll do a write up and add it into the diagnostics for a Puma post I did. Thumbs Up

List of gauges that the UG can read. Not all specific to a Diesel though Whistle

I tried to download the user manual but it didn't work...So I can't RTFM, and wondered if anyone knew...:

Would the Ultra Gauge also wind in and out and reset the Electronic Parking Brake (EPB) on other OBD vehicles (I'm thinking of my XC70)... Defender "Puma" 2.4 110 County Utility (possibly the last of the 2.4's)

I was able to reset a transmission fault on a smart car so don't see why not.

No, it is just a gauge tool that can read and reset generic fault codes. You would need a Volvo compliant diagnostic tool to do what you are after.

I think I misunderstood the wind in and out bit! Should/will reset a fault code though. 1989 200tdi 90 csw

Received an invoice for £19.08 from FedEx in the post. £9.08 VAT and £10 handling charge. Just paid it over the phone using their Censored automated service, want to bet I get a bill reminder in the next week or two? Whistle

Looks like a good alternative at an affordable price.

Can the system store values or is just showing and dissapear?
I'm thinking in analyze the problem with the power loss

Thanks Eduardo

Eduardo,

It just shows the gauge data and doesn't offer any data storage. The one main difference between this and the scangauge I have noticed, is that the UG refreshes the sensor information a lot more often than the scangauge does.
