United Kingdom 2012 Defender 110 Puma 2.2 XS CSW Firenze Red
starting problem
Drove home from London yesterday, wagon running sweet and smooth, Parked up on the drive and went to drive this morning and it wouldn't turn the starter. Big Cry
There was no click from anything, alternator light comes on, no glow-plug light, temp gauge up to the hot zone
I've done a search here and found nothing conclusive on what it may be, so has anyone got any ideas on how I can fix it over the weekend ?
any ideas gratefully received..! Poppy - TDCI (Puma) 110XS 2.2 - Camper conversion - see the build here - https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic56530.html

Try just locking then unlocking with the keyfob. Sometimes there is a glitch in the programming. Happened to me with a spare set of keys which were programmed by a dealer. If this works it is nothing to worry about. Any time you get a non-start just lock-unlock with the keyfob. If this does not work there are more technical things to try but give it a shot first. 1982 88" 2.25 diesel

Hi Spudfan,
did that first with no results other than to get the alarm to go off!!
checked the bonnet alarm trigger to see if that was ok with no results

however - I took a look in battery box and checked the terminals - all were tight, posts in good order
took a peek in the divers seatbox and played with all the fuses and relays by removing and wiggled them about - checking after each 'wiggle'
After playing with the 100 amp fuse i tried the key and hay presto off it went !

I can think of no reason for this to become loose as have not been off road or bumping up curbs ...

the little picture on the fuse box says it effects the starter, glow plugs, and engine management..... so logical..

so fingers crossed it keep starting! Poppy - TDCI (Puma) 110XS 2.2 - Camper conversion - see the build here - https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic56530.html

Glad you got it sorted. The odd non-start I've had has always worked with the keyfob thing. I don't think anyone has come up with a definitive reason for this issue. I'll bear your solution in mind incase I need it. Thumbs Up 1982 88" 2.25 diesel
