Have a look to see if you can pick up a PAYG set up on the continent using their local networks instead of tieing yourself into a contract in this country and having to sort out roaming services that you may well get charged for. An unlocked dongle should be easy to pick up before you go and then just pick up a prepaid sim in the area you're in.
Just a thought. |

My company use the dongle that you can pick up from any phone shops, I think ours are from 3.
They just link in with the nearest major telecom provider so no need to worry that a specific provider (say Vodafone) do not cover the area you are in as if any provider does cover it links with that signal. It may cost a bit more but to avoid that make stops in cafe's as the majority have free wifi as well as hotels and hostels. That's what I did travelling. if your using yours just to book flights etc then you could probably just get away with a pay as you go. Type in http://www.uswitch.com/broadband/guides/broadband_abroad/ There's also a link on the left to what the best dongle bundles are. Ive got a BlackBerry on Vodafone that i can tether to my netbook and laptop. If im travelling in Europe then i call them and add a "pack" to my contract for £10 a month that gives me 25mb a day in most European country's and i can start it and cancel it any time i want, just the minimum is one month costing £10. Ok not much good for watching TV but for general browsing and email its more than enough.

I have got a vodafone dongle c/w clip on aerial that works very well in the uk but then i put a bougie tel payg sim card in it out in France, i just went into a hypermarche and got the one with the cheapest data and put 20 euro on it, worked for ages then i did not know how to top it up, my French is good but not that good. If everything is under control you are not going fast enough.
