I would take it back to the dealer,doesn't sound good not at the price they charge. 2.4 90 XS

It isnt powder coated inside the tube.
I have one and mine doesnt do this. I did do a lot of waxoyling when fitting it. Is it a genuine bought from a main dealer as you could take it back? they have 12month warranty. Just out of interest, did you reuse the crossmember trox bolts? Oh and did you check the finish - all the ones ive seen (5 now) have some damage to the finish from shipping - you need to fix this before fitting. Mike |

Mine does it too, you can take it back to the main dealer and swap it, but the new one will do the same, i have just taken mine off (again) and put some black silicone sealant around the holes, thought it was worth a try!

The other thing i do with ALL external parts im fitting is waxoyl surfaces touching - so around the tubes the washer plate ans chassis all have waxoyl on each side. Mike

Took it into the dealer, apparently a known issue, they have replaced it and driving in the pouring rain today and no rusty water

In the process of removing a NAS Bumper/Step from the rear of my 2001 TD5. Only just acquired the vehicle so not sure on the age of the NAS or how its been treated, however, badly rusted on most surfaces and the rear cross-member is badly pitted in a line that follows the top of the NAS with a 10mm perforation just about where your left foot hits when getting in the back. Bolts are difficult to remove but have used plenty WD40 and they are moving, still plenty galvanizing on the bolts.
Once the cross-member is repaired, painted and waxoyled then going back to a fold up step and drop plate tow bar arrangement. Will take a couple of photos and post tomorrow. 2006 D3 Man TDV6 SE - Buckingham Blue 2001 Defender 90 TD5 SW - White |
